Biocide. On most jobs it’s a benzalkonium chloride dilution, or sodium hypochlorite. Both are fine when the person spraying them knows what they’re doing, which is what PA1, PA6 and PA6AW certify. That’s the paperwork the HSE wants to see, and we’ve got all three.
Practically: planting gets a proper soaking before we start so it can’t take anything up, anything delicate gets covered, and if the wind’s playing games I’ll knock next door before we begin rather than after.
Almost always no. But it depends who made it. K Rend, Weber, Parex, Sto and the rest all publish their own cleaning guidance, and proper render cleaning sits comfortably inside it. What voids warranties is high pressure, wire brushing, and the wrong chemistry on a through-coloured render.
3 to 5 years for most properties. But it really does depend on the elevation.
A biocidal treatment after the clean slows the regrowth down noticeably, but nothing stops it. Anyone quoting a ten-year guarantee on outdoor render is selling something I wouldn’t stand behind.

Render cleaning is a quiet job. Mostly it’s a hose, a lance, and an operative working steadily along the wall. On commercial jobs I work around the trading day.
One’s fine. Usually it’s the north face that needs it and the other three don’t, and there’s no honest reason to charge you for cleaning walls that are already clean.
I do the work.
Commercial jobs might have a second pair of hands, but it’s the same team on the property from start to finish. The reason the quote comes from the man holding the lance is because that’s the man responsible for the finish.
